The best way to access and consume engineering information.

SWISS is developed by the XSB corporation, headquartered 90 miles East of New York City.

We are a team of dreamers, planners, doers, and makers. For nearly two decades, XSB has developed unique semantic technologies to enable people, organizations, and machines to understand, share, and act upon large amounts of data and complex concepts, resulting in dramatic savings of time, reduction of risk, and improvement of desired outcomes.

The SWISS interoperable data platform is a new paradigm in engineering information. For too long, engineering content such as industry standards and regulatory information have been published, sold, and distributed as standalone individual documents. But evidence shows that this information is used like data, where engineers and technicians deconstruct the documents to extract just the parts and pieces they need (e.g. text, tables, equations, etc) and then integrate that information into their enterprise and throughout their supply chain.

Rather than approach engineering information as individual documents, SWISS views this content as a collection of interwoven data and concepts — text, tables, graphs, equations, images — which when linked together create seamless movement between them (a.k.a. interoperability) and “change awareness”. Every piece of data knows if it’s up to date, how it’s related to other data, and where it’s being used in the enterprise and supply chain.

SWISS is a collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense (Defense Standardization Program and Defense Logistics Agency) which partially funds SWISS’s development and helps to specify meaningful and valuable functionality for manufacturers and service providers of engineered goods. Other partners include ASTM, ASME, API, IEEE, Boeing Corporation, Northrop Grumman, Bechtel Corporation, Siemens, PTC, and others.
